Accountancy firm appoints 29 new partners across audit, tax, deals and consulting divisions
Accountancy and business advisory firm BDO has promoted more than 2,000 staff across its UK business, including 29 partners in its audit, tax, deals, consulting, risk and outsourcing teams.
According to the group, the promotions follow a year in which the firm expanded its social mobility and citizens programmes, which reportedly reached 8,200 young people through work experience, insight events and virtual career initiatives.
The business also added 525 new trainees across a mix of apprentices, graduates and industrial placements in September, with more than one in four of its employees now undertaking a programme.
Almost a third of the newly promoted partners are based outside London, while more than a third are female. The firm said it aims to reach 30% female representation at partner level by the end of 2030.
Additionally, more than 1,200 people have been promoted in BDO’s audit practice in addition to 10 newly appointed partners: Sarah Kierstan, Daniel Pratt, Georgie Gaunt, Adam Barallon, John Detweiler, Caroline Hulmston, Anna Lillie, George Moore, Chris Saxby and Paul Williams.
The tax practice also recorded 315 promotions and appointed seven new partners: Steph Carr, Olga Sweeney, Peter Cheng, Gemma Davies, Emma Poynter, Michael Pape and Matthew Carter.
Meanwhile, the consulting, risk and outsourcing practice promoted 358 employees and appointed four new partners: Andrew Hutton, Tristan Oorloff, Claire Robertson and John Critchley Roper.
Furthermore, almost 170 people were promoted in the deals practice in addition to eight new partners, including Matthew McDevitt, Lorna Hopkinson, Alistair Rolland, Craig Goold, Ryan Biscomb, Lewis Winston, Ollie Woodward and James Garside. BDO’s central operations team has also seen the promotion of 176 people.
Louise Sayers, head of people, culture and purpose at BDO, said: “The success of our business is built on the expertise, ambition and commitment of our people. These promotions recognise the outstanding contribution each individual has made to our clients, colleagues and communities.
“We believe creating opportunities for success should begin before young people ever enter the workplace. It starts by helping them understand the career paths available to them, gain meaningful experience and build confidence in their future.”
She added: “From supporting thousands of students with work experience and career insight opportunities, to developing future partners and business leaders within our firm, we are committed to helping our people succeed, progress and achieve their potential. I am delighted to congratulate everyone for being promoted this year.”
