Role Summary

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Manager to help lead its Technology Risk Consulting practice. This strategic leadership role requires someone capable of building and scaling a high-performing consulting team, driving business development, and delivering exceptional outcomes across technology risk, resilience and operational excellence.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience supporting IT functions through large-scale transformation programmes, including cloud migration, application modernisation and operating model redesign. A strong background in industry or professional services is essential, with hands-on expertise across IT Risk, Assurance and Advisory.

You will deliver high-quality consulting services across areas such as:

• Technology Strategy & Operating Model – assessing technology roadmaps and translating them into actionable, risk-aware transformation plans.
• Cloud Transformation – conducting independent risk reviews of cloud architecture and migration programmes.
• IT Operations – evaluating IT processes and operational improvements using frameworks such as ITIL, TOGAF and COBIT.
• IT Security & Resilience – advising on improvements to technology security, resilience and operational continuity.
• IT Governance & Risk Management – designing governance frameworks, risk management plans, remediation programmes and independent IT assurance services.

Experience within the UK Financial Services sector, particularly insurance and mid-tier financial institutions, is highly desirable.

Key Objectives and Responsibilities

Technical Skills

• Proven experience in technology risk consulting within industry or professional services.
• Strong understanding of IT operations, resilience frameworks and risk management.
• Experience leading IT architecture governance and operational reviews using TOGAF.
• Extensive experience conducting IT risk and control reviews, including cloud security assessments.
• Delivery of independent IT attestation services (ISAE 3402, SOC 2, SWIFT CSP, PCI DSS).
• Experience reviewing cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP), including architecture, management groups, privileged access, FinOps and cloud resilience.
• Understanding of DevOps lifecycle processes.
• Experience reviewing data governance and AI within a data lakehouse environment.
• Independent assessment of technology transformation programmes, including PMO, governance and operating model reviews.
• Familiarity with IT frameworks such as COBIT, NIST, Cloud Security Alliance and ITIL.
• Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards (ISO 27001, PCI DSS, SWIFT CSP, DORA, FCA/PRA requirements).

Proposition Development

• Contribute to the development of technology propositions and act as a subject matter expert.
• Build a strong understanding of the firm’s broader service offerings.
• Clearly articulate the organisation’s differentiators in the consulting market.

Business Development & Marketing

• Build and manage relationships with clients and prospects to generate new opportunities.
• Lead the development and delivery of proposals and business development activities.
• Drive high-quality marketing initiatives, including thought leadership and brand development.

Soft Skills – Client Focus

• Strong leadership skills with experience building and scaling teams.
• Consulting experience within professional services or internal consulting (including regulatory experience).
• Strong commercial awareness and the ability to develop practical, client-focused solutions.

Client Delivery

• Lead the delivery of high-quality client engagements.
• Manage projects to budget, profitability, timelines and scope.
• Own key client relationships and proactively identify opportunities to add value.

People Leadership

• Role model high-performing team behaviours.
• Lead, coach and develop the consulting team.
• Adopt a hands-on approach when required to support delivery.
• Manage team utilisation and delegation effectively.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement.
