Role Summary
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Manager or Director to lead and expand their Technology Consulting capability, with a particular focus on Technology Risk, Transformation Assurance, and Operational Resilience.
This is a strategic leadership role for an individual who can:
- Build and scale a high‑performing consulting team
- Drive business development and market growth
- Deliver exceptional client outcomes across technology risk, governance, and transformation
The ideal candidate will be a seasoned technology risk professional with extensive experience supporting IT functions through major transformation programmes, including cloud migration, application modernisation and operating model redesign. Experience may come from consulting, industry, or a blend of both.
You will play a key role in delivering high‑quality advisory and assurance services, demonstrating expertise across:
- Technology Strategy & Operating Model – assessing technology roadmaps and translating them into actionable delivery and risk management plans
- Cloud Transformation – reviewing cloud architecture and conducting independent risk assessments of cloud migration programmes
- IT Operations – evaluating IT processes and operational improvements using frameworks such as ITIL, TOGAF and COBIT
- IT Security & Resilience – advising on technology security, resilience and operational continuity
- IT Governance & Risk Management – designing and implementing governance frameworks, risk management plans, remediation programmes and independent IT assurance
Experience within the UK Financial Services sector, particularly insurance and mid‑tier financial institutions, is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
- Lead and deliver technology risk consulting engagements
- Oversee IT architecture governance and operating model reviews (TOGAF)
- Conduct IT risk and control assessments, cloud security reviews and resilience assessments
- Lead independent IT attestation services (ISAE 3402, SOC 2, SWIFT CSP, PCI DSS)
- Review cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP), including architecture, privileged access, FinOps and resilience
- Assess DevOps lifecycle maturity
- Review Data Governance and AI governance in a data‑lakehouse context
- Provide independent assurance over technology transformation programmes, including PMO governance
Proposition Development
- Shape and evolve the firm’s technology consulting propositions
- Act as a subject matter expert on emerging technology trends
- Develop a strong understanding of complementary service offerings
- Articulate the firm’s differentiators in the consulting market
Business Development & Market Engagement
- Build and maintain strong client relationships
- Lead proposal development and pitch activity
- Drive marketing initiatives and thought leadership
- Identify and convert new business opportunities
Client Delivery
- Lead high‑quality delivery of client engagements
- Manage projects to scope, budget and timeline
- Maintain strong client relationships and anticipate client needs
- Ensure high standards of quality across all deliverables
People Leadership
- Build, coach and develop a high‑performing consulting team
- Foster a culture of trust, accountability and continuous improvement
- Provide hands‑on support where needed, especially in a growing team
- Manage team utilisation, delegation and commercial performance
Key Experience and Attributes
- Proven experience in technology risk consulting (professional services or industry)
- Strong understanding of IT operations, resilience frameworks and risk management
- Familiarity with IT frameworks such as COBIT, NIST, ITIL, Cloud Security Alliance
- Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards (ISO 27001, PCI DSS, SWIFT CSP, DORA, FCA/PRA)
- Strong business acumen and ability to design pragmatic, client‑focused solutions
- Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder‑management skills
- Experience working with UK financial services organisations (desirable)
- Track record in business development and proposition building (desirable)
