The Opportunity – Social Housing Audit Manager

As a Social Housing Audit Manager, you will work with a diverse portfolio of social purpose organisations, including:

  • Housing associations and social housing providers
  • Charities and international NGOs
  • Grant‑making bodies
  • Schools, academies, membership organisations, and professional bodies

Many clients are household names or top‑100 charities. You will also have the freedom to develop your own areas of interest alongside your social housing portfolio.

This role is ideal for someone who wants to make a tangible difference in the social purpose sector, supporting clients to strengthen governance, financial management, and long‑term impact.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of external audit clients, delivering a high‑quality, year‑round service
  • Lead multiple audit teams, ensuring work is completed on time and within budget
  • Act as the principal point of contact for clients, providing proactive and insightful support
  • Plan, oversee, and review audit engagements from planning to completion
  • Prepare and present reports to senior management, Audit Committees, and Boards
  • Coach, mentor, and develop junior team members
  • Contribute to business development, networking, proposals, and presentations
  • Support the delivery of wider assurance services where required
  • Participate in firm‑wide training, technical development, and team initiatives

Technical Skills & Experience

Essential

  • ACA, ACCA, ICAS (or equivalent) qualified
  • Strong technical knowledge of auditing and accounting standards
  • Excellent project management skills with experience leading complex audits
  • Confident communicator able to engage senior stakeholders
  • Strong people management and coaching capability
  • Proficient in Excel and Word

Desirable

  • Experience auditing social housing providers or not‑for‑profit organisations
  • Knowledge of the Housing SORP or sector‑specific reporting requirements
