About the role
As Ethics Manager will support the activities of the Ethics Partner and Senior Manager to deal with compliance with ethical standards and development of a monitoring environment.
This position will be responsible for a range of duties, including but not limited to, advising teams on compliance with ethical standards, delivering training across the firm as required, supporting with the development of guidance to be used by the firm, supporting with the implementation of an effective monitoring system as well undertaking regular monitoring against compliance with ethical standards.
The Manager will work with the wider practice protection team contributing to other projects as requested.
Key Responsibilities:
Standards
- To support the maintenance of the firm’s ethics policies and guidance.
- To support the development and management of appropriate systems and processes to enable compliance with relevant ethical codes.
Training and learning
- To work with National Learning and Development to develop training appropriate for all people, including new joiners.
- To review the results of the annual ethics learning and support in responding to any identified issues.
Advice
- To provide advice to the firm on matters of professional ethics.
- To manage a portfolio of consultations received via the ethics database and provide advice on compliance with ethical standards.
Monitoring and reporting
- To support the development of systems and processes for monitoring the firm’s compliance with ethical standards.
- To undertake monitoring of ethical compliance and prepare reports to senior leadership.
- To support in maintaining reports of breaches of ethical standards to our regulators.
- Provide general support to the wider Practice Protection team as required.
Essential skills:
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying issues and providing solutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and build strong working relationships.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- A good understanding of the regulation on audit independence.
Desirable skills and qualifications:
- Previous experience working in an ethics team in a professional services firm.
- Understanding of the business activities of a professional services firm.
- Experience of working in a monitoring environment.
- A professional accounting qualification.
Working Conditions:
This is a full-time position, working Monday to Friday. The successful candidate may be required to work additional hours as necessary to meet business needs.
The position is based in the firms London office. They have an agile working policy, meaning that some remote working will be possible.
