A leading professional services firm is seeking a highly experienced and commercially astute individual to join its growing Corporate and M&A Transactions Tax team at Director level. This opportunity is ideal for a Senior Manager or existing Director ready to take the next step in their career and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of a dynamic and ambitious practice.

About the Team

The Corporate and M&A Transactions Tax team comprises over 20 specialists delivering high-quality tax advisory services to private equity houses and acquisitive corporates across a wide range of sectors. With a clear growth strategy in place, the team is expanding and looking for a senior leader to contribute to its continued success.

The Role

The successful candidate will lead complex transaction tax engagements, including:

  • Managing and delivering tax due diligence (buy-side and sell-side) and tax structuring projects.
  • Collaborating with colleagues across specialist tax areas such as VAT, Employment Taxes, and Transaction Services.
  • Providing strategic input into legal documentation and financial models.
  • Translating technical tax issues into clear, commercial advice for clients and stakeholders.

This role demands a blend of technical excellence, commercial insight, and strong leadership capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a portfolio of transaction tax engagements from inception to completion.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor throughout the deal lifecycle.
  • Oversee risk management, client onboarding, and engagement procedures.
  • Mentor and develop junior team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Contribute to business development initiatives and the wider growth strategy of the team.

Candidate Profile

  • Proven experience in leading tax due diligence and structuring projects.
  • Strong understanding of client engagement processes and risk management.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex tax matters to non-specialists.
  • Demonstrable experience in managing client relationships and internal stakeholders.
  • In-depth, up-to-date knowledge of UK taxation and its application to corporate transactions.
  • ACA and/or CTA qualified (or equivalent), with a strong academic background.
  • Experience in managing teams and delivering projects to tight deadlines.
