The Global Ethics and Independence Director of this professional services firm will lead the firm’s ethics and independence program, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and promoting a culture of integrity across all member firms globally. This role involves developing and implementing policies, providing guidance and training, and overseeing compliance with ethical standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Policy Development: Develop, implement, and maintain global ethics and independence policies and procedures.
- Compliance Monitoring: Oversee compliance with ethics and independence standards, including regular audits and assessments.
- Training and Education: Design and deliver training programs to educate employees on ethics and independence requirements.
- Advisory Role: Provide expert advice to senior management and member firms on complex ethics and independence issues.
- Incident Management: Lead investigations into potential breaches of ethics and independence policies, ensuring appropriate actions are taken.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with regulatory bodies, industry groups, and other stakeholders to stay abreast of developments in ethics and independence standards.
- Reporting: Prepare and present reports on ethics and independence matters to the board and senior management.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for enhancing the firm’s ethics and independence program and implement best practices.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Law, or a related field. A master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., CPA, CA, CFE) is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in ethics and compliance, preferably within a global accountancy firm.
- Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of global ethics and independence standards and regulations.
- Skills: Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills. Ability to work effectively in a global, multicultural environment.
