Our client’s impairment team forms part of their audit quality support team which delivers the foundations for audit quality in the form of methodology, policies, reviews, coaching support, procedures, templates, guidance, and training.
This team plays a vital role in supporting the audit practice. It forms part of the firm’s system of quality management; is responsible for designing methodologies and tools that ensure compliance with auditing and ethical standards and other requirements applicable to audit and assurance engagements; and supports the audit service line in its delivery of engagements that comply with the firm’s methodology, risk management policies and procedures.
The role
- Act as a subject matter expert in relation to the audit of impairment of non-current assets.
- Lead on, or support, the delivery of impairment audits, including updates to audit guidance, tools, templates, and training relevant to impairment of non-current assets.
- Respond to consultations from the audit service line.
- Keep up to date with audit and assurance developments to consider how the firm can best adapt proactively to changes on the horizon.
What are they are looking for?
- At least 3 years’ experience working in the United Kingdom (preferably with Big 4 audit firms).
- ACA / CA / ACCA (or equivalent) qualification.
- A passion for audit quality and helping audit teams to develop their knowledge and audit and assurance skills.
- Strong practical and theoretical knowledge of UK auditing, ethical, and accounting standards, including IFRS, FRS 102 and a good knowledge of applying IAS 36 and Section 27 of FRS 102.
- Operating at a manager/assistant manager level within a similar role or in external audit.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple work commitments, and to meet targets and deadlines.
- Experience of managing audit teams and project management (specifically in relation to managing the process on auditing impairment of non-current assets).
- Ability and willingness to challenge and influence more senior individuals and peers.
