Your contribution

The Audit Risk and Reporting team plays a critical role in supporting audit teams when complex audit risk, contractual or reporting issues arise. As a Director, you will be a senior technical leader within this growing team, reporting to the Audit Stream Risk and Reporting Partner and collaborating closely with Directors and specialists across the wider Audit Quality function.

You will provide proactive, expert support to engagement teams, helping them navigate challenging audit risk matters and ensuring high‑quality, transparent reporting. This is an opportunity to apply and deepen your technical expertise, influence audit quality at scale, and contribute to the firm’s system of quality management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the resolution of complex audit stream risk and reporting issues, ensuring senior managers perform detailed file reviews where required and involving specialists from the wider Audit Quality team.
  • Proactively identify emerging or systemic risks and help prevent issues from crystallising through the development of policies, guidance and training.
  • Provide oversight and technical support on complex audit reporting matters.
  • Support the Audit Stream Risk and Reporting Partner in reviewing and monitoring the highest‑risk audit engagements (Close Monitored List).
  • Oversee the resolution of audit risks and contractual matters arising across the audit stream.
  • Lead projects to ensure processes and controls relating to audit stream risk and reporting are robust, effective and aligned to the firm’s System of Quality Management, including remediation where required.
  • Support Responsible Individuals navigating challenging inspection or regulatory processes.
  • Contribute to audit quality initiatives led by the wider Audit Quality Improvement team.

About You

  • ACA or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Strong practical and technical audit risk experience.
  • Experience with non‑standard audit reports (practical or technical).
  • Objective, sceptical mindset with the confidence to challenge senior engagement team members.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively within a small, specialist team.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to deliver difficult messages clearly and constructively.
  • Takes ownership and accountability for high‑quality work.
  • Awareness of UK regulatory requirements is helpful but not essential.
