The Opportunity
This is an outstanding opportunity for a talented and ambitious Senior Manager to join the Audit Risk & Reporting team within the Audit Quality Practice You will play a key role in supporting audit teams on complex audit risk, reporting and contractual matters, helping to shape a growing function during a period of transformation.
You will report to the Audit Stream Risk & Reporting Partner and work closely with the Director, collaborating with specialists across the wider AQ team. This role is ideal for someone with strong technical audit experience, excellent judgement and a passion for delivering high‑quality audits.
What You’ll Do
- Triage and respond to queries on the form and content of audit reports, engagement letters and other reporting matters.
- Review and approve non‑standard engagement letters, amendments to terms of business, hold harmless letters and NDAs.
- Advise audit teams on audit stream risk issues, ensuring appropriate support is provided and reviewing audit working papers where required.
- Approve modified audit opinions, non‑standard audit reports and component auditor reporting.
- Lead ad hoc projects and ensure processes and controls relating to audit stream risk and reporting support the System of Quality Management (SOQM), addressing any remediation points.
- Proactively identify emerging audit risk and reporting issues, developing policies, guidance and tools to support audit teams.
- Write and maintain templates, manuals, guidance and technical articles for use across the audit practice.
- Contribute to wider audit quality initiatives, working closely with colleagues across AQD.
What You’ll Bring
- ACA/ICAS professional qualification.
- Recent audit experience on PIE and listed entity audits, or experience in an internal technical role advising on PIEs and listed entities.
- Strong practical and technical expertise in audit risk, audit reporting, ISAs (UK), UK GAAP, IFRS and UK regulatory requirements.
- Ability to exercise professional scepticism, challenge senior team members and provide clear, objective advice.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a small, specialist team.
- Innovative and creative mindset with the ability to improve processes, templates and guidance.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to deliver difficult messages constructively.
- Strong sense of accountability and ownership.
- Awareness of the UK regulatory landscape (useful but not essential).
